How Daily Theme Days Can Help You

Daily themes can be one way to structure your day to help you get your important tasks and projects done. When you tackle each day with a different focus, it helps you to not get sidetracked by tasks that aren’t as important. 

What things are the most important parts of your business that you need to focus on? 

For example, for my business there are three (3) categories of main “tasks” or categories:

  • Operations and Administrative

  • Client Projects and Tasks

  • Content creation and marketing

With these “themes,” I then can create blocks of time during my day to work on those specific tasks – or, have themes on different days of the week. That way, when I sit down to get my work done, I know exactly what my focus is for the day.

 

Choosing the right themes for your business is important. Figure out what you need to focus on each day and then create daily themes around those tasks. It helps you plan your day and be more productive. I loooove using checklists to break down tasks. It’s so satisfying at the end of the day to have tasks crossed off. I will admit it – I even will write down a task that’s not on the list but I completed, just so I can cross it off!

 

To help you, here are some examples of how you can set up your daily themes (you will structure based on your own business):

 

Monday: Business task focus day. This is a good day to focus on tasks that are related to the operation and administration parts of my business, such as marketing, website updates, SOP creation and updates, financials, etc.  I usually plan my newsletter content for two issues – outline and plan so I am two weeks ahead.  

Tuesday and Wednesday: Client calls and tasks. These days are dedicated to client work – tasks, communications, updates, calls, etc. It doesn’t mean I don’t work on client projects on other days, but these are my dedicated days for client work so I know what I’ll be doing.

 

Thursday: Client projects and tasks, content writing, and bigger projects. This is a good day for me to focus on larger projects or content writing. It gives me a starting point for the day and I can create my to-do list around that.

 

Friday: Catch-up day. This is the day I catch up on anything that I didn't have time to do during the week. If I have a lot of client projects and tasks that are due, I work on those first and sometimes need to push any business-related tasks to another day. I also use Fridays to do a rough outline of my week ahead.

Oh, another note. At the end of each day, I write out my to-do list for the next day so I can hit the ground running and know exactly what the priorities are for the day. By creating daily themes, it’s a simple way you can increase your productivity and focus better.
