You may already know you’re busy, but the important question to ask is - do you know exactly where your time goes? Time tracking for even a few days can be eye-opening. It reveals which tasks you absolutely must do as the business owner, and which ones could easily be delegated.

If you're feeling overwhelmed or trying to grow, this simple exercise is a powerful first step to reclaiming your time.

Why Time Tracking Works:

  • Creates awareness of hidden time-wasters.

  • Shows how much time is spent on admin vs. strategic work.

  • Highlights tasks that could be outsourced or automated.

How to do it Effectively:

  1. Step 1: Choose Your Tracking Method
    You can use a spreadsheet, paper notebook, time-tracking app (like Toggl or Clockify), or even voice memos. The key is to log consistently throughout the day.

  2. Step 2: Log Everything in Real Time
    For 3–5 days, jot down every task you do and how long it takes. Include both business and personal tasks (you may discover time leaks in both!). Be specific: "Answered client emails (45 mins), Scheduled social posts (30 mins), Picked up mail (15 mins)."

  3. Step 3: Categorize Your Work
    After the tracking period, review and tag each task as:

    • CEO Work: Tasks only you can do (e.g. strategic planning, coaching calls).

    • Delegate: Admin work or tasks that don’t require your expertise.

    • Eliminate/Automate: Repetitive or low-value tasks.
